Doctors observe token strike against murder of Dr Aftab

Doctors of neuro surgery department, Lahore General Hospital, here on Thursday observed "Black-Day" and token strike against the brutal murder of Dr Aftab Qureshi, a Neuro Surgeon of Jamshoro University, Sindh.
Addressing an emergent press conference here on Thursday, Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din, Principal PGMI and LGH termed this incident as the national tragedy and demanded to Chief Justice of Pakistan to hold a judicial inquiry into this murder.
He also appealed to the rulers to take immediate steps for the arrest of the culprits. He said that doctors' community would go to agitation all around the country if the murderers were not arrested. Professor Nazir Ahmad, Professor Naveed Ashraf, Dr Khalid Mahmood, Captain Muhammad Bashir (Retd), Dr Anwar Chaudhary and a large number of doctors were also present on the occasion.
Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din stressed upon President and the prime minister to ensure financial assistance and security for the family of the deceased doctor. The participants of the press conference were of the view that had the law enforcement agencies and Sindh government took timely action, the life of doctor Aftab could have been saved.
They said that such incidents are causing sense of insecurity for doctor community and they need foolproof security to perform their duty fearlessly. They said that doctors' community was disappointed and they could leave the country if such incidents were not stopped. The participants also offered Fateha for the departed soul of the late Dr Aftab and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
