The Lahore High Court here on Thursday directed Punjab government's 'Dengue experts' advisory group' to address the grievance of the petitioner within one month, seeking compensation as announced by Chief Minister Punjab for dengue fever victims and their families.
The petitioner, Muhammad Khalid, submitted that his 20-year-old son Qasim had died due to dengue fever in Mayo hospital. He said the chief minister had announced financial assistance for the families who lost their dear ones due to the epidemic. He said initially he was told by health department officials that the name of his son was included in the list of dengue victims and assured him that the grant would be release soon. However, six months later when he again contacted the respondents, he was told that the record of his son had lost. The petitioner prayed to the court to direct the health department to retrieve the record of his son and also pay the financial compensation announced by the government.
