At least 10 persons died in different incidents during the last 24 hours in the city. According to details, five persons drowned while bathing in a water drain (nullah) near Bhains Colony. The deceased were identified as Ghufran, Musharraf, Naseem, Bakhtzada, and Muneer. They were bathing in the Nullah to beat the heat.
In a separate incident, one Shahbaz, 28, died, when 100 capsules of opium burst in his stomach. The deceased was a smuggler and used to transport opium and other drugs from Gujranwala to Karachi and other parts of the country. A motorcyclist and two pillion riders were killed when a speedy truck him them in Sadar, near Zainab Market late Thursday night.
They said that all the three men died on the spot, who were identified as Mujahid, 30, Sagheer, 40, and Aslam, 25. In another incident, a young man was electrocuted in Pakhtoonabad, Manghopir area on Friday, Chhipa sources said. They said that Mumtaz,22, s/o Shah Jamal, was repairing water motor at his home when he touch live electric wire and died on the spot.
