The mindless bloodletting continues unabated in the city, as nine more people including two workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed on Thursday, police and rescue sources said. Three persons were killed and another injured when unknown armed men opened fire on a car in Nazimabad area near Anno Bhai Park late Thursday night in the jurisdiction of Nazimabbad police station.
The deceased were identified as Rafiq, Haji Jawad and Abdul Shakoor. The injured was identified as Umer. Police said unidentified armed men on motorcycle intercepted the car outside Annu Bhai Park and opened indiscriminate firing on it. As a result three of them died on spot while the fourth one sustained injuries.
The bodies and injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Official at the police station said that it was targeted killing. However, affiliation of the victims with any party or group could not be ascertained. Separately, a young man was shot dead by unknown armed men in Kharadar are, police sources said. They said that Shani, 25, s/o Yaqub, was targeted by armed men when he was standing outside his home. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico legal formalities. In an another incident, an unidentified armed man opened indiscriminate firing on a Hi-Roof near Water Pump, FB area and killed a man.
They said that Waqar s/o Akbar was busy in cleaning his vehicle outside his home when an unknown man opened fire on him and fled. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was proclaimed dead. Sources said that deceased was worker of MQM, Unit 146. They said the victim used to run pick and drop service for school children. One, Faisal, 25, s/o Saeed, was killed by unknown culprits in Altaf Town area in the limits of Sukkhan police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said that victim was kidnapped by unknown men who later on shot him dead. Sources said that the deceased was an activist of MQM, Unit 69.
In an another incident, three men were gunned down while two other injured when unknown assailants opened indiscriminate firing at a bus stop in Tessar Town area in the remits of Surjani police station. The deceased were identified as Ghulam, 40, son of Akbar Baloch, Mehboob, 35, and Rehmatullah Khan, 30, while the injured were identified as Tayyab, 11, and Qadir, 40.
Police said that unknown assailants riding motorbikes appeared at the stop and opened indiscriminate firing on the people standing at the stop. Meanwhile, a man was critically injured by bandits, when he resisted a robbery bid in Korangi No 2 1/2 area, in the limits of Zaman Town police station. Interviewee Police said that six bandits barged into the house of Abdul and made him and his family hostage at gunpoint and gathered ornaments, cash and cell phones. When they were about to leave with the looted valuables, Abdul offered resistance, upon which he was shot and injured. The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
