Strengthening party in Sindh: PML-N approaches Mehars, Sherazis and others

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has approached Sherazi brothers of Thatta, Mehar brothers of Ghotki, Mir Manzoor Panhwar, Nasir Shah and other political bigwigs of the province inviting them to join the party. Sources said that the PML-N had geared up efforts to attract more Sindhi politicians to cement the party in the province and had formed a co-ordination committee to contact political heavyweights of the province.
This committee is headed by former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Jatoi while Amir Bux Bhutto, son of Mumtaz Bhutto, Irfanullah Marwat, Dr Bahadur Dahri, Ismail Rahu, Imdad Chandio, Marvi Memon, Saleem Zia and Raja Ansari are its members. Sources in PML-N Sindh told this scribe that the committee had approached the Sherazi brothers of Thatta, who currently are affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
Aijaz Shah Sherazi, the elder of Sheerazi family, is adviser to chief minister Sindh on rural development. According to sources, Sherazi brothers told PML-N's committee that they could not join PML-N at this point of time as they are affiliated with PML-Q headed by Ghous Bux Mehar.
The committee has also approached Mehar brothers of Ghotki and talks are underway with them, the sources added. They said PPP MNA Faryal Talpur had also approached Sherazis and Mehars inviting them to join PPP. According to the sources, Mehars have set some conditions for joining the PPP. They said that a member of the committee had also approached former provincial minister Mir Manzoor Panhwer and former district nazim Sukkur Syed Nasir Shah inviting them to join PML-N, adding that negotiations are underway. When contacted, Liaqat Jatoi told Business Recorder that committee was working as per the given mandate and he would brief media at an appropriate time.
