A Chinese company would invest in the development of Zulfiqarabad City and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed between Sindh government and the Chinese company's representatives during President Asif Ali Zardari's China visit.
This was announced by Sindh Information and Power Minister Shazia Marri during a press briefing at auditorium of new Sindh Secretariat building, here on Saturday. She said provincial cabinet has approved the MoU. SEZ Company would assist Sindh government in four major sections of investment, advisory, consultancy and facilitation.
She said that Sindh government would develop Zulfiqarabad on the pattern of Shenzhen, a port city of China. "The Chinese government had developed this city in 80s, as port city and now this has become an example of development of China. People from all over the world use to come there to see the efforts of the Chinese," Shazia said. She added that President Asif Ali Zardari will visit China to attend the Shanghai Summit soon and the MoU would be signed in presence of his Chinese counterpart.
A delegation of Sindh government had already visited China comprising minister for finance Syed Murad Ali Shah and representatives of Zulfiqarabad Development Authority (ZDA), she said. The information minister said that the cabinet has approved amendments to Registration Act 1908, proposed by the authorities of Board of Revenue (BoR) while, chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted a two-member committee comprising minister Syed Sardar Ahmed and law minister Ayaz Soomro to oversee the amendments, she added. Shazia said Sindh cabinet had given approval to increase in women quota in provincial government jobs from 5 percent to 25 percent keeping in view the competency of women in the province.
The cabinet also approved the implementation policy on 2 percent quota for physically challenged people in provincial government jobs and quota of minorities as well, she said. To a question, the minister said despite the fact that Sindh budget would be tabled after five days, the chief minister, minister for finance, and the whole cabinet welcomed the budget proposals submitted by MQM members. "Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Syed Murad Ali Shah have assured the MQM members for the incorporation of their proposals in Sindh Budget 2012-13," she added.
