Underage girl's body found at Safoora Goth

Police on Saturday recovered the body of an underage girl, who had been missing for over a month from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, was found from an under-construction building located near Safoora Goth on Saturday. According to the SHO Sacchal police station, the body was first spotted by local residents.
The body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where doctors declared that the girl had been tortured and sexually assaulted The SHO said that the girl's father, Muhammad Saleem, had filed a report on May 1 this year in the Mobina Town police station. Irum, also known as Rani, lived with her parents in Gulshan-e-Iqbal's Block 4-A.
The girl had gone missing while playing outside with other children. It took the girl's family more than a week to get the police to file an FIR under Section 364 (kidnapping or abducting to murder) of Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified kidnappers.
Investigators said that the body was in deteriorated condition and appeared to be more than 20 days old. They said that the deceased's father had only been able to identify her because of the cloths she was wearing. This is the fifth such victim who was reported kidnapped, raped and murdered in the vicinities of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhawithin the past month. "The detailed report of the medico-legal examination has been reserved," said an investigator, citing initial findings.
"The report said that the body is more than two weeks old and the girl was apparently strangled to death. Multiple wounds also suggest attempts of sexual assault." The police said they were "close" to identifying the suspect, adding that they had gleaned some key clues indicating the motive and the people behind the incident. "We are moving in the right direction and hope that our efforts will yield some positive results within the next few days," said Inspector Saleemullah Qureshi, the SHO of the Mobina Town police station.
