The fifth meeting of Inter-Provincial Ministers' Group presents a unique opportunity for the provincial women development departments to share their experiences and benefit from them to the optimum level in a bid to fast-track the women development strategies.
The Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment, Fiza Batool Gilani, expressed these views while opening the meeting at Peshawar, which was attended by Special Assistant to the PM, Begum Shehnaz Wazir Ali and provincial Women Development ministers, says a press release issued here on Thursday. Fiza Gilani said that in the context of devolution of all functions of Federal Ministry on Women Development to the federating units, the importance of consultation and co-ordination amongst them has increased manifold.
She emphasised, "The last four-year have seen phenomenal legislation on women issues during the stint of present democratic government. She said that these pro-women reforms are in line with Pakistan People's Party's unwavering commitment towards gender equality and women empowerment.
The Goodwill Ambassador said that the task of Inter Ministerial Group on Women Development is to identify lacunae, if any, in various women development policies and to work out strategies, targets and timelines for implementation of policies and develop indicators and monitoring arrangements for maximum output.-PR
