Increased intensity of traffic at Raiwind Road is causing congestion and hence Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved revised estimate for improvement of Bhupatian Chowk junctions at a cost of Rs 63.9 million in order to mitigate this problem.
According to a LDA's spokesperson here on Friday, the project will include widening of metalled portion of the junction, provision of central median and slip lanes, lane marking, installation of road safety devices and traffic signals, shifting of services, and acquisition of land measuring more than four kanals. This was decided in the Governing Body meeting of LDA, which was chaired by District Co-ordination Officer and Chairman LDA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.
The meeting was participated by Vice-Chairman LDA Aamir Asgher Dar, Director General LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, Additional DG (Housing) Irfan Bhatti, Chief Town Planner Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Chief Engineer TEPA Saeed Akhter, Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed and representatives of the provincial Local Government, Housing, Planning and Development and Finance Departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District, Lahore.
The Governing Body also delegated powers to the LDA Director General for appointing legal firms, for taking benefit of the services of experienced and well reputed lawyers for vigorously pursuing the thousands of cases pending in different courts of law.
