Chicago cabbie to be sentenced in terrorism case

A Pakistani-born taxi driver who pleaded guilty to trying to send money to a terrorist with alleged ties to al Qaida will be sentenced in Chicago. Raja Lahrasib Khan will be sentenced Friday in federal court. Khan changed his plea to guilty in February in an agreement with federal prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to provide material support to terrorism by sending cash to Ilyas Kashmiri.
The agreement recommends a sentence of between five and eight years, well short of the maximum 15. Khan has been held in a federal jail since his arrest two years ago. The prosecutors' case hinged on secret recordings of Khan and undercover agents, some taking place in Khan's taxicab.
