'Educated women play a key role in society's development'

Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof Dr Parveen Shah has called upon the society to pay attention on the education of their girls so that a healthy society can be developed. She was speaking as chief guest at a function organised jointly by Institute of Women Development Studies and Marui Girls Hostel University of Sindh in connection with International Women Day on Saturday late evening at Marui Girls Hostel.
A large number of girls students of the hostel, women from Sindh University Colony and Sindh university Co-operative Housing Society as well as a number of teachers including Dr Abida Tahrani Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Mumtaz Bhutto ex-Dean faculty of Islamic studies, Dr Khalida Jamali, Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi, Ms Parveen Maree and others.
Dr Parveen Shah said that education is most important and also essential for the society and advised the girls students to give priority to the education. She said that educated women always played key role in society development. She said that every woman should pay attention on education of their girls child and also give importance to them. She said that University of Sindh is paying attention to resolve the problems of the teachers, employees and students. Dr Shah said that Institute of Women Development Studies was set up in 1994 and from the year Institute is regularly organising International Women Day. She said that Institute of Women Development Studies was setup to provide higher education in women development studies.
She announced that the problems being faced by Marui Hostel would be resolved on priority basis. Dr Qatar Jahan Mirza Provost of the Marui Girls Hostel on this occasion said that this hostel always paid attention to the girls' problems and to provide better facilities to them. She said that the management has also maintained discipline. She said that the Marui hostel is organising co-curricular programmes and added that co-curricular programmes are also essential for the training and skills development of the students.
Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi also spoken and highlighted academic and research programmes initiated by the Institute. A number of girls also expressed their views.
