LSE index rises by 27.18 points

Bullish sentiments prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Monday and the equities registered gains under the lead of fertiliser sector but trading turnover was decreased due to the investors' cautious behaviour. The LSE-25 index gained 27.18 points and was closed at 3452.33 against 3425.15 of last Friday while transaction volume was restricted to 1.632 million shares as compared to previous volume of 3.078 million shares.
The market was opened on a healthy sign and maintained upward slide throughout the day. The investors made entries in National Bank, Engro Foods, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Fauji Fertiliser, Fatima Fertiliser, D G Khan Cement and Hub Power that helped market stay in positive zone. However, Engro Polymer and Chemical, Lotte Pakistan PTA, Soneri Bank, Fauji Cement, and Nimir Industrial Chemical remained under selling pressure and were closed with marginal losses.
The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 95 active issues, 26 companies ended in positive zone, 13 stayed in minus column, while 56 companies remained unchanged at their last week closing levels.
PPL gained Rs 1.15, Adamjee Insurance was improved by Rs 1, while National Bank and Engro Foods were up by 96-paisa and 76-paisa respectively. Engro Polymer and Chemical lost 25-paisa, Lotte Pakistan PTA was declined by 8-paisa while Soneri Bank and Fauji Cement were down by 7-paisa and 6-paisa respectively. Lafarge Pakistan Cement topped the volume leaders with trading of 485,256 shares followed by Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim with 189,076 shares.
