MQM condemns murder of former MPA's brother

13 Jun, 2012

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of the Syed Qarar Ali, brother of former MPA Syed Shakir Ali, in Sher Shah Kabari (Junk) Market for refusing to pay the extortion money. Syed Zakir Ali, another brother of Syed Shakir Ali, has received serious injuries in the attack.
The Co-ordination Committee said that if the criminal elements and extortionists were not controlled, then the patience of the MQM workers, business persons and the general public might give way. Armed terrorists and extortionist had earlier killed several businessmen in the same Kabari (Junk) market by firing indiscriminately, and now they had struck again killing and injuring the brothers of Syed Shakir.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the criminal elements, extortionists and terrorists had been given licence to kill and plunder in Karachi and leaving the people of Karachi at the mercy of these criminals appeared to be a sinister conspiracy. The Co-ordination Committee said that the increasing crimes of extortions, kidnapping for ransom and robberies were being done in the city with tacit support of certain elements. The security of the country had been compromised by paralysing the city of Karachi.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the manner and ferocity with which the crimes of kidnapping for ransom, extortion and murders are being done in Karachi is a proof enough that the operation against criminal elements was a farce. They still enjoyed the full support of the elements conspiring to subvert peace.
The Co-ordination Committee warned the criminals and terrorists not to get intoxicated by the support from the elements conspiring to subvert peace and order in Karachi. If the criminal activities continued unabated, people would stop listening to appeals for restraint from the MQM.
The Co-ordination Committee offered condolences to the bereaved family members on the martyrdom of Syed Qarar Ali and extended heartfelt sympathies. They also prayed for the good health and speedy recovery of Syed Zakir Ali, who had received serious bullet injuries.
