Government quite serious about literacy rate: Iftikhar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has claimed that ANP led provincial government has allocated huge investment for promotion on education for next fiscal year with four percent ratio of the total GDP, saying that they are keenly focusing to improve the current literacy rate in the province.
Speaking at a function to hand over a bus to Islamia College Peshawar for Women on Tuesday, he said that the provincial coalition government had brought unprecedented education reforms during last four and half year of its rule. He added that establishment of eight news varieties and its sub-campuses, improvement of basic education infrastructure, provision of basic and adequate facilities, are the key achievements in the sector.
On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of Islamic College University, Dr Haider Shah Jadoon and Principal Islamia College Peshawar for Women, Dr Madiha Azhar, were present. Mian Iftikhar lauded the untiring efforts of Haji Sahib Turangzai for establishment of the historic Islamia College Peshawar, saying that institute was groomed high personalities of international repute, playing a pivotal role in development and image building of the country.
He stressed the need for provision of maximum facilities to girls' students as women are playing integral role in economic development of the country. "We need to provide equal opportunities to both male and female to put their due share in the development of the country," he maintained. The provincial minister said that equal opportunities without any gender discrimination were key to led off the country from current crisis and put on path of development and progress. He advised the girls' students to fully concentrate towards their studies to play their role in development of the country.
Mian Iftikhar said that the promotion of education would be handy to remove sense of deprivation and gender equality in the society. He called upon the female students to show the true shape of women to the world by following the traditions of Islam as well as our values.
