Fort Munro gang-rape victims on Thursday boycotted the judicial inquiry ordered by the district and sessions judge, Dera Ghazi Khan, submitting an application expressing their distrust on the inquiry officer. The lawyer representing the girls, Sardar Behram Khan, said that the girls would appear before the court on Friday (today) for recording their statements under Section 164 of the CrPC.
Three of the accused, Muhammad Amjad, Naveed Ahmed and Abdul Majeed, would be produced before the Magistrate, Dera Ghazi Khan, Jahanzeb Aman Hafeez, for extending the duration of their physical remand, Tariq Ali Basra, the commandant of the Border Military Police, said.
DCO of Dera Ghazi Khan Iftikhar Ahmed Sahu said that the five girls and the three accused, who had gone to a forensic laboratory in Lahore for DNA testing, had returned to Dera Ghazi Khan. He clarified that the girls were not in police custody but they could not leave the city because they would have to appear before the court to record their statements. However they can freely meet their parents or relatives, he added.
