ASKON, LCCI to develop trade, economic co-operation

ASKON and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) have agreed to work in unison to develop trade and economic co-operation between Turkey and Pakistan. According to the LCCI spokesman, the decision in this regard was taken at meeting between the LCCI 37-member delegation and ASKON, an Association of Anatolian Businessmen on Thursday.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Mustafa Koca represented the LCCI and ASKON, respectively. Mustafa Koca said that the association believed in mutual and multilateral winning; and trying to take the correct steps by doing the right business on the right time, and with the right partners.
The ASKON President offered LCCI businessmen collaboration in Textile, construction, automotive-spare parts, machine-spare parts, consumer durables, electrics-electronics, leather-shoes, finance, jewellery, sanitary and metal-chemistry, iron-steel, press, packing, tourism, foreign trade, environmental service, consultancy, and other service sectors. He said that Turkey has a variety of advantages in many areas and is ready to share these potentials with Pakistani businessmen, therefore, they should come forward and join hands with their Turkish counterparts to avail these unique opportunities.
"We are aware of being citizens of a state that is one of the biggest economic and military powers in the world, having immense natural resources. And all we are trying to do is using all our capacity, and sharing and exchanging our advantages with all other countries."
Mustafa Koca said that the success of businessmen who considered their self-interests as together with the public's will lead the national development. "Handling of economic power by the right parties is only possible by activating all potential sources and making 'production' the dominant principle." He said that the businessmen can contribute a lot to increase the exports, switching the foreign trade balance in favour of their respective countries.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that in Pakistan, there are a lot of investment opportunities for Turkish businessmen in various sectors like telecommunications, information technology, financial services, petrochemicals, livestock, dairy, consumer goods, food processing, pharmaceuticals, minerals, and particularly in energy sectors.
