Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has termed the reopening of private pharmacies in public sector hospitals in the province as one-sided and injustice with the poor people of Pakistan.
In a statement the provincial general secretary, Chemists and Druggists Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and spokesman, Mohammad Iqbal said that Supreme Court of Pakistan had already directed its closure therefore it should not be violated otherwise, they will launch protest campaign in this regard.
Mohammad Iqbal said that Special Secretary Health, Dr Noorul Iman has announced the reopening of private pharmacies in the public sector hospitals. In his announcement the special secretary health has also claimed that association has also been taken into confidence.
He clarified that during the meeting it was decided that the three pharmacies which are running on contractual basis would be closed down on the directives of the Supreme Court and new model pharmacies would be established to provide complete free medicines to poor.
Mohammad Iqbal was of the view that private pharmacies have already failed in public sector hospitals and the people were looted. The Supreme Court, he said have taken notice of these irregularities and issued directives for their closure. But, some officials, he said are once again out to revive those pharmacies. He said that Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) is being allocated a fund of Rs 270 million out of which Rs 90 million is provided to casualty. He added that the prevention of the hospital funds and their judicious use can guarantee the provision of free medical facilities to the poor.
