Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that conspiracies to derail the democracy would be foiled with the active cooperation of the masses.
Addressing a public meeting on Sunday evening after inaugurating the sui gas project at Kundanpur she said some anti-democratic elements were trying to jeopardizing the democratic process in the country just for their personal gains.
Despite of conspiracies the PPP-led government will complete its constitutional tenure and elections would be held on schedule, she said. The minister said that PPP would continue its efforts for strengthening the democratic institutions and for the promotion of democracy at gross root levels in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The government, she said, was making all out efforts for ensuring relief to the masses and the concept of slashing the petroleum prices was aimed to providing relief to the common man across the country, she said.
The outage of electricity and menace of terrorism she said was the result of poor polices of previous rulers and PPP government was not responsible or accountable for loadshedding and terrorist activities in the country. The minister said the government was utilising all channels and resources to cope with the challenges like loadshedding and terrorism on top priority basis.
