Consumers not happy with gas officials' conduct

People belonging to various walks of life have expressed their concern over maltreatment at the hands of Sui gas authorities. They alleged that the local Sui gas office had become a hub of corruption, adding that the staffers and complainants were "always busy haggling for obtaining new connections" in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
Chairman of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (SCCI) Departmental Committee on Sui gas Mian Muhammad Anwar agreed with the assertions of the complainants and said that consumers belonging to Sialkot and Narowal districts were confronting multiple problems in the gas office in Sialkot.
Mian Anwar urged senior officials of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines to construct its own building to facilitate consumers, adding that a separate office should be established in Narowal district for handling complaints.
Mian Anwar urged the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for purging the Sui gas office in Sialkot from political interference for ensuring merit and transparency while processing fresh applications. The role of 'middlemen', especially so-called agents, should be eliminated, he said.
