Member of National Assembly Mian Marghoob Ahmed and Commissioner Lahore division, Jawad Rafiq Malik have ordered to increase the number of generators from 129 to 138 and to increase the additional supply of diesel for operating the generators to ensure the uninterrupted supply of water to the citizens so that they do not have face the scarcity of water in this scorching heat.
They were addressing a meeting held to review the arrangements of supply of water and pre monsoon de-silting of drains in Lahore here on Monday Member of provincial assembly Dr Asad Ashraf, Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Waseem Qadir, Saif ul Malook, Chaudhry Shahbaz, and DCO Lahore Noor ul Amin Mengal, MD WASA, additional commissioner general, additional commissioner co-ordination, LWMC and officers of other departments were also present on the occasion.
The Commissioner directed the WASA authorities to provide ample quantity of water to such areas where the pressure of water is low in spite of installation of generators. He also directed to get the diesel from the nearest petrol pump instead of wasting time to fetch it from great distance.
Marghoob directed the officers that every tube well or generator should be made operational at every cost and all resources should be utilized for the provision of potable water to the citizens. He also made it clear that the work of de-silting of drains should be completed by the end of June 30. In the meeting WASA authorities also apprise the Commissioner Lahore Division in detail about the work of de-silting of drains that has been made so far.
