The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday adjourned till June 21 the proceedings in a petition against President Asif Ali Zardari for not shunning political activities as advised in a LHC verdict. He directed the petitioner to come up with arguments on the maintainability of a contempt of court petition.
The petitioner, a bar member, argued that the President Zardari had neither disassociated himself from political office at the 'earliest possible' as was expected by the court in its decision on the president's dual office. He said the directions issued by the court had neither been obeyed nor the respondent stopped misusing the premises of the Presidency for the purpose of his party (PPP).
