People responsible for advising former prime minister Gilani to refrain from filing an appeal against his conviction in the contempt of court case would soon be exposed, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Babar Awan said on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters after the case hearing outside the Islamabad High Court, Awan said after the Chief Executive case ruling, no client would forget the lawyer who charged just Rs 100 as case fee that such a meagre amount "is sufficient to buy fuel to reach the Adiala Jail".
Commenting on the outcome of the upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections, Awan predicted "a huge upset" in the SCBA polls. Babar Awan, once a close aide of President Asif Ali Zardari, was removed from the slot of the chief lawyer of the former prime minister after he reportedly refused to appear as a witness in the case. "I am only interested in my profession of advocacy, instead of striving for politics," Awan said.
