LHC urged to declare fiscal year 2013 budget illegal

21 Jun, 2012

An application filed in the Lahore High Court has urged the court to declare all the actions taken by former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani after his conviction on April 26, 2012 as illegal and without lawful authority. The petitioner, Azhar Siddique, has sought to add this application to an already pending petition against Gilani for holding the office of prime minister despite his conviction in contempt of court case by the Supreme Court.
In his fresh application, the petitioner prayed to the court to declare illegal the approval of budget 2012-13 by the National Assembly, all postings/transfers and promotions made by Gilani after his conviction. He also prayed to the court to recover all the expenses incurred by him and his cabinet colleagues since April 26.
