Taiwan stocks ended 0.76 percent lower on Thursday, with banking shares and oil counters the biggest laggards, down 1.52 percent and 1.25 percent respectively. The main TAIEX index fell 55.58 points to 7,279.05, after opening down 0.45 percent. Electronics shares lost 0.72 percent, with HTC Corp shedding 2.81 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up by T$0.034 to trade at T$29.844. Foreign investors were net buyers on Wednesday, bringing down their total selling to T$11.53 billion this month.
