The Karachi Port handled 122,478 tonnes of cargo including 107,829 tonnes of import, 14,649 tonnes of export cargo and 3,332 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during the last 24 hours of business activities ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. A total number of 1,927 loaded containers including 1,394 loaded 20' containers and 533 loaded 40' containers are handled during the reported period.
While there are 516 total unloaded containers including 160 unloaded 20' containers and 356 unloaded 40' containers are handled during business hours on Thursday. The total 107,829 tonnes of import cargo comprised of 30,687 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 32,432 tonnes of coal cargo and 44,710 tonnes of oil and liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,649 tonnes comprised of 13,171 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of b bulk cargo; 1,298 tonnes of cement cargo and 160 tonnes of oil and liquid cargo. A total number of four cargo vessels namely Hanjin Durban, Irenes Dream, Ozkan-A and Conti Flint carrying containerised cargo, oil tankers and bulk cargo respectively are sail out to the sea during the business activity hours on Thursday.
There are a total number of five cargo vessels namely Ital Moderena, Northern Democrat, Arcadia, Nadeen, M T Karachi, Glenden, Jag Ravi, Catherina and AS Orelia are currently occupying the berth to load/offload containerised cargo, bulk cargo, crude oil tankers, ethanol liquid tankers, coal cargo and cement cargo respectively at Bulk Oil Pier, East Wharves, Pakistan International Containers Terminal, West Wharves and Karachi International Containers Terminal during the reported period of business hours on Thursday.
There are three cargo vessels namely Northern Democrat, Ital Moderena and M T Karachi carrying containerised cargo and crude oil tankers are expected to sail out to the sea on Thursday evening. There are four cargo vessels namely Golden Gion, Iessa, Vine-2 and Iron Butterfly carrying ethanol liquid containers, containerised cargo, cement cargo and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday evening. There are four cargo vessels namely APL Sharjah, YM North, Kota Azam, Oriental Lotus and ECE Nur Bayraktar carrying containerised cargo, steel cargo and ethanol liquid containers respectively are expected to arrive during the business activity hours on Friday. While there are three cargo vessels namely E R Sydney, Arsel Star and UBC Cyprus carrying containerised cargo, steel cargo and cement cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
