The United States on Friday said it looks forward to working with the new Pakistan Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, who was elected to the office by the Parliament. "We are pleased that the leadership issue appears to have been settled. We obviously look forward to working with the new prime minister," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said, hours after Ashraf's election as head of the government in a parliamentary vote.
The spokesperson hoped that this (election) will "open space to continue to roll up our sleeves and get back on track with all of the things" that the US wants to work with Pakistan on.
