Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi said Pakistan People's Party (PPP) had strengthened the democratic institutions by electing the new Prime Minister. Talking to State Television on Sunday he said PPP leadership avoided confrontation between the institutions and decided to elect a new Prime Minister for strengthening the democratic system in the country.
Kundi said, during the first speech of the newly elected Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the national assembly, the opposition's behaviour was constructive.
He hoped the same behaviour by the opposition in future as well for running the democracy smoothly.
He said the government had faced a lot of crises from the very first day, adding, some people were giving last dates of the government but the PPP leadership completed its four and a half years through the reconciliation policy.
The Deputy Speaker said, as it was an election year and the present government's tenure will ended in March, 2013, the government want to make a caretaker set-up by taking all the opposition parties in confidence.
