YDA is on a strike to seek improved service structure for doctors of government hospitals of Punjab.
The protest has added to woes of patients as they find no doctors at out patient departments of these hospitals. Poor patients are forced to visit private hospitals and clinics for treatment. Young doctors have sharply reacted on the three-day ultimatum of the Punjab government to them to end their strike or face legal action, descrbing it a harsh and ill-advised decision.
YDA Punjab on Tuesday has started holding protest demonstrations simultaneously with ongoing strike in Outpatient Departments (OPDs) of public hospitals in Punjab to press for service structure. The young doctors held a protest demonstration in front of Nishtar Hospital on Wednesday as the YDA had announced to hold demonstration in front of one teaching hospital each day to put pressure on the government for fulfilling their demand of implementation of service structure. They also blocked the road for a short period of time. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands, they chanted slogans against the government for denying service structure for them.
