Rs 50 million allocated to meet flood situation

The government has earmarked an amount of Rs 50 million to meet any flood situation so that prompt relief activities can commence in case of emergency. This was stated by Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Mujahid Sherdil here on Wednesday.
"Water flow data of headworks, barrages of all rivers of Punjab are being provided on 24-hour basis regarding the ebb and flow of river water at control points through wireless networks system," he added. Furthermore, he said institutions concerned have been directed to make foolproof arrangements regarding provision of food and preventive vaccinations.
Mujahid Sherdil said that all relevant departments have been asked to remain alert to combat any possible flood situation, whereas process of storing necessary food items in various districts have started in fabricated storages. He said, on the directive of Chief Minister, more boats, tents and blankets are been stocked to be used in any emergency flood situation.
