People of a Safoora Goth locality on Thursday threatened to besiege the concerned police station if immediate steps were not taken to eradicate the rising street crimes in their area. Residents of Al Muslim Co-operative Housing Society and Al Muslim Terrace Block 76-77, Sector 34-A, Scheme 33 urged the authorities concerned to provide adequate security in the residential area, end illegal encroachments and induct guards.
They have also written letters to the Governor, Chief Minister, and police high ups inciting their attention toward the rising street crimes and other criminal activities in their area. Criticising the deteriorating law and order situation in Safoora Goth area, they expressed concern over the incidents of muggings, thefts and snatching in the area.
Urging the authorities concerned to take prompt action, they said that they had repeatedly approached the concerned police station, but the police was acting as a silent spectator. They said that police should be told to provide protection to the lives and property of people living in the society, besides taking action against the criminals.
