Federal Minister for Communications, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil, said that the government has launched the Bhasha Dam Project that will be completed in ten years to overcome power shortage; however, the government is making efforts to overcome load shedding as soon as possible. He expressed these views talking to people here during his visit to Chamkani Interchange of Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway on Friday.
The Minister said that the government is providing thermal electricity to the people on subsidised rates by purchasing it for Rs 12 per unit but providing it to the people on Rs 8 per unit, and in this we are providing a subsidy of 118 billion to the people in the power sector, he added.
He said that our resources are limited but our problems are unlimited; we will continue to make efforts to provide relief to the people in every sector. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil said that we believe in strengthening all institutions and want that every institution should work in the sphere as laid down in the constitution. The Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil, who is making visits across the country to personally monitor progress on all ongoing NHA projects, reached Chamkani Interchange to review its progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil gave two-month notice to NHA officials to start construction of Chamkani Interchange or be ready for strict action, otherwise. He took serious notice of the slow pace of work at the site and instructed the officials to start work on the project within two months, and warned that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
On this occasion, the Minister formerly inaugurated the construction of water supply and irrigation nullah that will supply water to adjacent areas of Budhni, Yaseen Abad and Budhaani. This nullah will irrigate 4,000 acres land of three villages and will cost 5.1 million rupees. The Federal Minister won the hearts of the people by giving on the spot approval to the demand of the people for construction of nullah and Chamkani Interchange.
Addressing a huge gathering here, the Federal Minister said that the government of PPP is fully aware of the problems faced by the people but the circumstances have brought us to a crossroads where we have to put the real situation before our people, and we will always adopt the policy of truth, the Minister added.
The Federal Minister said that our country is passing through a critical stage and we played a frontline role in the war against terror and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province has been the worst hit in this war where our people and the police gave huge sacrifices. The Minister expressed confidence that the government will be able to sail the nation safely through these crises.
The public meeting was attended by a large number of party workers and the people of the area and Minister for Irrigation (KP) Ahmad Hasan Khan, Member Construction NHA Yousaf Ali Khan and GM NHA (KP) Fazle Nawab Khattak also accompanied the Federal Minister. When the Federal Minister reached the venue, the people gave him an enthusiastic reception and raised loud slogans as Arbab Alamgir Khan Zindabad!
