A cop and an activist of People's Students Federation (PSF) fell prey to ongoing targeted killings in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, a sub-inspector of Crime Investigation Department (CID) namely Ghufran Amin, 38 son of Khair Rehman was gunned down in the limits of Site A police station.
The incident took place at Pathan Colony near Haqqani Masjid where the deceased was targeted by two unknown armed riders when he was standing near his residence. Resultantly he received single bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities.
Police said the victim, who was deployed in CID Department, was performing duty in DIG CID squad. Moreover, they said the motive behind his murder was yet to be ascertained but they believed he might have been targeted. Later, the funeral prayers of slain Ghufran were held at garden police headquarter. An activist of PSF was shot dead in North Nazimabad in the limits of Taimoria police station. The incident took place at Block M North Nazimabad where 41-year-old Abdullah Baloch son of Haji Noor Mohammad Baloch was targeted when he was sitting at well-known Haleem shop.
Resultantly, he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. After committing the crime, the culprits managed to flee from the scene. Police shifted the body to ASH for legal formalities where his heirs staged protest and shouted slogan against the rival groups and took away his body without any legal formalities.
Police said the victim, who was the resident of Block N North Nazimabad, was the father of six and added that the deceased, a former leader of PSF, was presently associated with Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP). No case was registered till filing of this report. A bullet-riddled body of a teenager was found near Farooquia Masjid in the precincts of Garden police station.
The victim, who was later identified as Ehtisham, 16 son of Iqbal, was the resident of Bohra Pir old city area. SHO Malik Athar said the hands and legs of the victim were tied with a rope and he might have been murdered after being kidnapped from unknown place. He said the victim, who was the student of intermediate, had no affiliation with any political or religious party. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital
Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his family. No case was registered till filing of this report. A worker of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat was gunned down at Nazimabad area. The incident took place at Nazimabad No 4 where unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate gunshots on Rashid son of Minhal when he was on the way to home from his work. Resultantly, he received multiple gunshots and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the victim was an active worker of ASWJ Ranchor Line sector where he resided. No case was registered till filing of this report.
