More than 60 percent of infrastructure has been restored in Malakand Division with financial and technical assistance of friendly countries, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Secretary, Communication and Works (C&W), Zahid Arif said on Saturday. He expressed these views in a meeting with a visiting DFID team here Saturday that was attended by DFID officials Shahid Zaman, Julie Perreira, Ress Fercoson, as well as Mohammad Ashraf, Chief Engineer North, Shakir Habib and DS Technical of C&W department.
He said that work on installation of steel bridges provided by British aid agency DFID in flood-hit areas of Malakand was in full swing. The agency, he said, had announced 50 compact steel bridges for installation in Malakand Division where infrastructure was devastated by recent flash floods.
The provincial government will bear the installation cost of Rs 993 million. Zahid Arif told the team that installation work on 46 places was going on while 22 bridges had been successfully installed. He thanked the British donor agency for timely assistance. The team expressed satisfaction on the progress of work and lauded efforts of C&W officials in this regard.
