Former Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Chief, Qazi Hussein Ahmad has said that ball regarding the restoration of religio-political alliance, Muthahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) is in the court of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman. He said that the Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Syed Manawar Hassan and negotiating team of the party had held three meetings with Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman and he has been informed of the JI conditionality for the restoration of MMA.
Therefore, he said that terming Syed Manawar Hassan as stumbling block in the way of the restoration of MMA not only wrong, but also against the factual situation. The former JI chief has expressed these views while talking to a private television channel. He further said that Syed Manawar Hassan has fulfilled all his responsibilities. He added that the members of JI had elected Syed Manawar Hassan as Ameer of the party in a very democratic manner and they all are with him. To a question regarding Fata, he said that the JI Chief and he had addressed maximum number of public meetings in tribal area and raised voice on the problems faced by the people of tribal region have no precedent in other political parties.
To another question, he said that Nato supply should not be restored in any circumstances and in case of the restoration of supply JI will utilise democratic means in its opposition. Similarly, he said that in case of the inclusion of the decision of parliament in the resumption of Nato supplies, he said that they have right to oppose the decision of the parliament also. He said that JI will oppose the restoration of Nato supplies.
In response to a question by resisting the restoration of Nato supplies with the use of force, the former JI Chief said that they will continue their peaceful and democratic struggle for blockage of the supplies. He said that a large number of people impressed due to the invitation and programme of JI are serving in each section of life and success of the leadership in absorbing them in the organisation can make largest political force in short period of time.
