Committee formed to determine prices of essential items

District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Lahore has constituted a sub-committee with equal representation to traders and shopkeepers along with district administration to determine the prices of the essential items. The committee will be meeting on 2 July, and submit its recommendations to the 'price fixation committee' for further decision. The sub-committee was formed at a meeting of the 'Price fixation committee' here on Saturday.
DCO Lahore Noor ul Amin Mengal presided over the meeting, while it was attended by MPAs Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chaudhry Shahbaz and representatives of the district administration, traders from Akbari Mandi and Kariana Merchant Association.
Speaking on this occasion DCO said that prices of essential items would be rationalised and CDGL would protect the rights of traders, shopkeepers and citizens as well. DCO Lahore said that traders and shopkeepers should also focus Ramzan and district administration will need their co-operation during this Holy month. He said that CDGL will set up Ramzan bazaars to provide cheap and quality essential items to the citizens.
Traders and shopkeepers assured DCO, Lahore their full co-operation during Ramzan. In the meeting various proposals were discussed for fixation of prices. Meanwhile on the directions of DCO Lahore Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, action has been taken against various hotels, marriage halls, sweets and bakers and other shops for selling substandard food items in the city. Food inspectors inspected the food samples of 429 hotels, marriage halls, sweets and bakers and other shops during last 72 hours and imposed fine of Rs 43,500 on selling substandard and unhygienic food items. Overall 104 samples of food items are sent to laboratory for further checking.
