Bombings and shootings in Iraq killed four police, two soldiers and five civilians on Saturday, security and medical officials said. Two roadside bombs at a checkpoint west of Samarra killed four federal police and three civilians, and wounded three more police, a police lieutenant colonel and a medical source at the Samarra hospital said.
In the north, a roadside bomb killed a soldier and wounded two others in the city of Mosul, while another roadside bomb near the town of Tal Afar killed an army captain, and gunmen shot dead a civilian near the village of Baaj, an army officer and Dr Mahmud al-Hadidi of Mosul Hospital said.
