ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Saturday slashed POL products prices ranging from Rs 2.48-6.44 per litre, CNG Rs 4.21-4.59 per kg and gas prices for domestic consumers 18-51 percent per mmbtu. According to a notification issued by Ogra, HOBC price has been slashed by Rs 6.44 to Rs 106.88 per litre, petrol by Rs 5.02 to Rs 84.49 per litre, kerosene oil by Rs 2.54 to Rs 86.25, HSD by Rs 2.48 to Rs 97.21 and light diesel oil by Rs 2.86 to Rs 83.71, effective July 1 to July 15.
The prices of jet fuels JP-1, JP-4 and JP-8 have been brought down by Rs 2.48, Rs 3.46 and Rs 2.48 to Rs 75.95, Rs 66.24 and Rs 75.63, respectively. The government has also reduced CNG price by Rs 4.59 per kg in Zone-I and Rs 4.21 in Zone-II, which is linked to 60 percent parity of petrol. After the current reduction in CNG prices the commodity would be available at Rs 77.36 per kg against Rs 81.95 per kg in region-I and at Rs 70.63 against Rs 74.83 in region-II.
CNG prices in region-I (which comprises KP, Balochistan and the Potohar region) cut by 7.7 percent to Rs 759.55 from the existing Rs 822.53, including Rs 141 per mmbtu Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC), and 8.3 percent for region-II (which consists of Sindh and Punjab) to Rs 697.55 from Rs 760.53, including Rs 79 per mmbtu GIDC.
The tariff for domestic consumers using up to 100 cubic meters per month was reduced by 18.7 percent to Rs 100 per mmbtu from Rs 122.95 per mmbtu. Those using up to 300 cubic meters per month reduced to Rs 200 per unit from Rs 245.89 per unit. Households consuming over 300 to 500 cubic meters of gas per month would enjoy a cut in gas prices by 51.7 percent to Rs 500 per unit from the existing Rs 1,035.34 per unit. The gas price of bulk domestic consumers using over 500 cubic meters per month would be increased by 0.8 percent to Rs 500 per mmbtu from existing Rs 496.21 per mmbtu.
The authority has made no changes in price of gas tariff for fertiliser sector, as it has retained the fertiliser feedstock gas tariff at Rs 116.27 per mmbtu excluding GIDC. Gas tariff for power generation industry including Captive Power Plants and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) was increased by 10.3 percent from existing Rs 507.86 to Rs 560 per mmbtu which also includes Rs 100 per mmbtu GIDC. This is the third reduction in POL prices within a month.
