Sindh Government provided 20,000 jobs: Murad

02 Jul, 2012

Sindh Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed confidence that the Pakistan People Party (PPP) would sweep next general election and form government at the centre as well as in the provinces.
The minister expressed this while addressing public meetings in the villages of Manjhan taluka of Jamshoro district on Sunday. He was accompanied by MPA Sikandar Shoro and the local leaders of the PPP.
The minister said the Sindh government gave 20,000 jobs to the people during the outgoing fiscal but observed that in view of the burgeoning population of the province it was not possible to give the government jobs to all the people. "Therefore, the government has initiated a number of schemes to provide jobs, technical trainings and small interest free loans to the public," he said.
According to the minister, these measures would help the people to find jobs in the private sector, start their own technical works or to launch small businesses based on their technical skills or otherwise.
He informed that 30 young people in each of the 28 union councils in the Jamshoro district would receive Rs300,000 interest free loan under the Waseela-i-Haq program.
He said the amount could be utilised from livestock, agriculture to any other sector of production or services.
The minister apprised the people that the provincial government had allocated Rs 190 million in the budget 2012-13 for construction of a ring embankment to protect the taluka from the raging Indus river's waters.
Talking about the general elections, the minister said that the PPP was popular political party which had always served the masses and whose leaders had sacrificed their lives, languished in jails and faced the courts only because they take stance in the people's interest.
"The elections will be held in their due time after around 8 months," he said. While addressing the people MPA Sikandar Shoro said that all the PPP governments including the past ones had faced conspiracies since the day they took office. However, he added that the party had learned to sail safe in the stormy waters of such conspiracies.
