A small delegation of Sweden businessmen will visit Pakistan in October this year to identify areas of co-operation and see investment opportunities in power and other sector, Ambassador of Sweden, Lars-Hjalamar Wide, informed members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Tuesday.
Speaking at a KCCI meeting he said that the delegation would compile a report following which a larger delegation comprising experts of green technology, power generation and other sector would visit Pakistan in 2013 to negotiate joint venture in different areas with their Pakistani counterparts. He said that a number of Swedish companies were operating in Pakistan successfully.
He emphasised the need for making efforts to improve Pak image in the eyes of foreign investors and business community, which is prerequisite to improve trade and investment in the country. The ambassador said that Pakistan and Sweden were enjoying best cordial relations and added that efforts should be made to further strengthen these ties.
About visa, he said on completion of documentation visa will be issued to business community in few days. He pointed out that a Pak mango festival was held recently in Sweden and people enjoyed the fine taste of Pakistani mangoes. President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmed said that Pakistan-Sweden trade must be enhanced due to huge potential market.
He stated that Pakistani business community in general and Karachi's business community in particular was very keen in enhancing bilateral trade. He urged the Ambassador to convince the Swedish chamber to form joint chamber with KCCI on the pattern of Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber which KCCI.
