The Lahore High Court on Tuesday barred all education's boards in Punjab from collecting processing fee from the students of private educational institutions. The next date of hearing will be fixed by LHC registrar's office. The court issued this order in a petition filed by a student of private school and sought replies from secretary education and chairmen of boards.
The petitioner, Khaild Mahmood, contended that Punjab government had forgiven registration fee, admission fee and processing fee for the students of public institutions but the same is being collected from the private students, which is discriminatory and violation of fundamental rights. After hearing the initial arguments the court issued a stay order against collecting of processing fee and issued notices to respondents.
