Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday appreciated the performance of Custom Collectorate Peshawar for collection of over 32 percent of different taxes from the set target during last fiscal year 2011-12, termed that it was a encouraging sign to achieve revenue collection target despite the present difficult economic conditions.
President SCCI, Afan Aziz, Vice President Zia ul Haq Sarhadi said in a press statement issued here on Tuesday, that the Model Custom Collectorate Peshawar had collected taxes beyond its target projected in the last financial year. They said that it was made possible due to full dedication and commitment of Collector Custom Peshawar, Jehanzeb Mehmood, Additional Custom Collector Torkhum, Dr Syed Jadoon, Additional Custom Collector Dryport, Saddique Ullah Khan, and Deputy Custom Headquarter Karam Elahi and rest of their team.
They said that the unexpected recovery was not recorded over the past years, but this year Custom Collectorate has set a precedent to achieve over 32 percent against the set revenue collection target during fiscal year-2011-12. Giving statistical details, they said that a Rs 4262.34 had collected on head of custom duty against the set target of Rs 4154.47million.
Similarly, they informed that Rs 8996.47 had collected on head of other different taxes by the Custom Collectorate Peshawar. Afan Aziz said that the achievement of tax collection target beyond its projected amount was reflected that the business community is paid their taxes with full honesty, and playing role in economic development of the country.
