LRMIS implementation would eradicate corrupt revenue system: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is utilising all resources for alleviating the grievances of less-fortunate segment of the society. He said that implementation of the revolutionary project of Land Record Management Information System (LRMIS) would help eradicate the existing corrupt revenue system.
Shahbaz further said that elimination of patwari culture has always been his top priority. He pointed out that land record computerisation is unprecedented and historic welfare-oriented project which will go a long way in eradication of corruption from the Revenue Department. He informed that, with the financial assistance of World Bank, land revenue record is being computerised in all 36 districts, whereas, under Land Record Management Information System, service centres have been made operational in Lahore and Hafizabad to facilitate citizens in obtaining land deeds and transfer of land.
Chief Minister expressed these views, while addressing a public meeting, after performing the inaugural ceremony of Land Record Service Centre, built at a cost of Rs 20 million, at District Complex Hafizabad, on Wednesday. The public meeting was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue, Sami Saeed, Members Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-N belonging to Gujranwala Division, government officers and notables of the areas.
CM said that with the help of this modern project, acquisition of land deeds has now become extremely easy, and long- term problems, facing the masses due to whimsical attitude of patwaris, besides corruption, will be ended, and revenue record would be safe and transparent. Chief Minister said ending patwari culture would go a long way in earning goodwill of the people. He also informed that, so far, computerisation of land record has been carried out in Tehsil Hafizabad upto 70 percent and Tehsil Pindi Bhattian upto 30 percent, while all 218 suburban areas of Tehsil Hafizabad would be online by August 14.
He said, as result of this welfare-oriented project, the legitimate owners of the land would have transparent computerised revenue record accessibility, whereas negative possibility of fraud and tempering in connivance with the staff of Revenue Department would end on permanent basis. Senior Member Board of Revenue, Sami Saeed highlighted salient features of the project and said that, as a result of Chief Minister's special attention and interest expeditious computerisation of land record in the Revenue Department is being carried out in Lahore, Hafizabad, Lodhran and all districts of Punjab aimed at rooting out the patwari mafia. He informed that citizens visiting the computerised service stations would now be able to get their revenue record copy without any recommendation or bribery.
