Lyari gangsters, contract killer among seven held

Law-enforcement agencies on Wednesday claimed they have arrested seven criminals, including four Lyari gangsters and a killer for hire, in separate raids at various parts of the Sindh metropolis. According to SSP Chaudhry Aslam, a team of Crime Investigation Department's (CID) Anti Extremist Cell (AEC) conducted a raid after informants confirmed the presence of criminals at Gulbai Chowk in Maripur and detained four suspects.
Various weapons were seized during the raid, officials said. The suspects were identified as Muhammad Faisal alias Mota alias Ladoo, Syed Younus alias Kalo, Abdul Hameed and Arsalan. He said that the AEC team recovered five Kalashnikovs, four pistols, five hand-grenades and over 100 rounds from their possession.
He said during initial interrogation, the detained persons had confessed having murdered 10 persons, including two political workers and a policeman. He said these suspects were nominated in several heinous crimes, including kidnappings, murders, attempted murders, police encounters and extortion. In another raid, a team of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) conducted raid in the Lines Area and detained an alleged targeted killer. SSP Khurram Waris said the suspect, Zuhaib son of Nabi Ahmad, who was a contract killer, claimed killing five persons in separate incidents.
He said that the accused person had committed a couple of murders over extortion. Meanwhile, two more felons, Ibrahim, son of Shahabuddin and Nasir, son of Aftab, were arrested by SIU in a separate raid. Two pistols and 10 cell phones were recovered from their possession.
