A bridge collapsed on the Munsyari-Milam road, around 50km from the India-China border after a truck carrying an earthmover tried to cross it on Monday.
The driver Godhan Singh and machine operator Lakhwinder Singh both were injured in the incident and admitted in hospital. The driver tried to cross, despite several warnings.
The bridge could not bear the combined weight of the JCB machine and the truck's which was 26 tonnes, Indian media reported.

Milam is the last village on China’s border. With the bridge gone, more than a dozen villages in Munsyari tehsil, with a total population of around 7,000, have been cut off.
