THE RUPEE: Loss against $

KARACHI: On Thursday, On Friday, Pakistan Rupee lost value against USD in both interbank and open markets. It however, remained unchanged against Euro in open market with respect to Thursday's rates.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 40 paisas for buying and 50 paisas for selling against USD over Thursday's rates closing at 167.60 and 167.90 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 50 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over Thursday's rates closing at 167.50 and 168 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for both and selling over Thursday's rates closing at 186 and 188 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR remained unchanged for buying but gained 10 paisas for selling closing at 45.10 and 45.40 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 5 paisas for selling closing at 44.10 and 44.30 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee failed to sustain its day earlier recoveries against the greenback and the British pound in the local currency market on Friday.

According to currency dealers, the short supply phenomenon of the greenback prevailed throughout the trading session which helped its appreciation for buying and selling at Rs 167.50 and Rs 168.50 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 167.40 and Rs 168.20 respectively.

Similarly, the rupee also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 205.55 and Rs 207.20 against the Thursday's closing trend of Rs 205.50 and Rs 206.20 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 50 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs 168(buying) and Rs 168.10(selling) against last rate of Rs 167.50(buying) and Rs 167.60(selling).

It closed at Rs 168(buying) and Rs 168.10(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 110,200(selling) and Rs 110,100(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
