PESHAWAR: Political parties and general public have rejected increase in the prices of petroleum products and termed 27 to 66 percent hike in commodities prices as shameful and sorrowful act committed by the government during the pandemic situation.
In a statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz here Saturday, the ANP chief said that in fact the flopped champions of change have bowed before the oil mafia, saying that the approval of the unscheduled summary has proved that instead of the government someone else is making decisions.
He said for the first time in the history of the government, the summary of increase in oil prices has been approved four days ahead of the end of the month to hurled petrol bomb on the people.
The ANP chief said that Imran Khan usually speaks of mafias, but first he should look on his right and left and he will find big mafias in his immediate proximity. Currently, he said the government is collecting Rs47 per litre tax on both petrol and diesel while the country is further burdened with the debts, then the question ultimately arise that where such big amount goes. The sorrow aspect of the increase in the petroleum products, he said is holding consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the purpose, which raise eye-brows that whether the government has delegated such powers to the monetary institute. Similarly, the provincial president PPP, Hamayun Khan has also rejected manifold increase in the prices of petroleum products and termed it a sheer injustice with the already inflation hit people.
