KARACHI: On Thursday, On Monday, upon market closing, Pakistan Rupee lost value against USD in interbank market. It also lost value against USD and other major currencies in open market.
Against Euro, PKR lost 50 paisas for both buying and selling with respect to last Friday's rates closing at 186.50 and 188.50 respectively. Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 5 paisas for buying while gaining 5 paisas for selling closing at 45.15 and 45.35 respectively. Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 44.10 and 44.30 respectively. The short supply phenomenon of the US dollar prevailed throughout the trading session which helped its appreciation for buying and selling at Rs 167.80 and Rs 169.00 against the previous closing trend of Rs 167.50 and Rs 168.50 respectively, local currency dealers said. On the other hand, the rupee showed strength as it recovered its earlier losses in relation to the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates slid from the Friday's closing of Rs 205.55 and Rs 207.20 to Rs 205.20 and Rs 206.80 respectively, they added. The dollar opened at Rs 168.50(buying) and Rs 168.60(selling) against last rate of Rs 168(buying) and Rs 168.10(selling). It closed at Rs 168.50(buying) and Rs 168.60(selling). The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 110,200(selling) and Rs 110,100(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
