ISLAMABAD: With a total 212,008 cases, Pakistan has jumped to 12th position on global Covid-19 index. So far, 4,338 people have lost their lives and 98,505 have recovered from the virus, in the country. According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and provincial health authorities, total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan have reached 212,008.
These include 75,501 in Punjab, 84,656 in Sindh, 26,115 in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 10,426 in Balochistan, 12,775 in Islamabad, 1,470 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 1,065 in Azad Kashmir. Sindh has reported 2,701 Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths during the past 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. In a statement issued by the CM House, he said that 9,435 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours.
With the new cases, the provincial total has risen to 84,656, while the death toll has reached the figure of 1,377.
Punjab has recorded 723 new coronavirus cases, and 46 new deaths, according to the government's Covid-19 portal. This takes the provincial tally of cases to 75,501, while the total fatalities have risen to 1,727. More than 27,000 people have recovered from the virus in the province.
Balochistan has reported 71 new cases of the novel coronavirus.
The total, however, has been revised to 10,426, with the health department clarifying that "data cleaning has been done, [and] duplicated data removed." Moreover, the health department's report also confirmed the deaths of three more persons due to the virus.
The death toll in the province has now climbed to 119.
In the last six days, the daily count of positive cases in Islamabad has remained under 271. Majority of the cases in the last two days were reported from Lohi Bher where 32 people tested positive followed by 23 from I-8, 22 each from G-7 and Sohan, 21 from Rawat, 19 from G-10, 18 each from I-10, G-6 and Khanna, 17 from Tarlai, 16 each from G-8, Bhara Kahu, and G-5, 14 from G-9, 13 from G-11, and 10 from G-13.
