Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that provision of relief to the down trodden segment of the society had been one of the important parts of PPP's manifesto and the incumbent government had taken several measures for the welfare of the people.
He said that BISP and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal have been government's flagship programmes for providing social security cover to the million of poorest of the poor across the country. The Prime Minister expressed these views in a meeting with Managing Director (MD), Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Zamurd Khan who called on him here on Friday. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal in providing social security services to the people of the country. He particularly mentioned the sweat homes project, shadi package, provision of home grocery items at utility stores, provision of medicines, wheel chairs and other services to the people.
He directed the MD to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to provide relief to the people who deserve government's assistance in an 'easy to access' way. Regarding the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal's Ramazan Package, Raja Pervez Ashraf said that he would call a meeting of the Finance team for allocating sufficient fund for the purpose.
The MD Bait-ul-Mal apprised the Prime Minister about various projects initiated by the government. He said that people have confidence and trust in the institution and the number of donors both inside and outside the country is increasing with the passage of time. He said that attention has been focused to provide easy to access relief in various fields like the medical assistance, education, technical training and financial assistance etc.-PR
