ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has tightened the noose around outlaws by carrying out crackdowns against drug pushers, gangs involved in burglaries, and criminal elements in various parts of the federal capital.
Last week witnessed a number of police raids against drug pushers in various areas of the federal capital and arrested around 50 criminals, besides recovering cash, stolen bikes, narcotics, wine, and weapons from their possessions.
At the beginning of the week, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan issued directives to all zonal officers for renewed efforts against those involved in anti-social activities.
A police team under the supervision of ASP Usman Tipu including SHO Khanna Police Station Inspector Mirza Muhammad Gulfaraz along with others, conducted a raid, and recovered a huge quantity of alcohol.
Police team also arrested a bootlegger identified as Sohail Gul, and recovered 60 litres of alcohol from him. The police team also nabbed Amanat during the raid, and registered a case against those running this distillery, and started further investigation.
Furthermore, DSP Rukhsar Mehdi including SHO Sihala Inspector Malik Muhammad Bashir arrested four members of a criminal gang, who were identified as Afzal, Rafaqat, Waseem and Khurram, and recovered weapons from their possession.
A case has been registered against them, and further investigation is underway. In another raid, a police team headed by SHO Shalimar Police Station Sub-Inspector Sulman Shah, arrested a bootlegger identified as Nazeer and recovered 30 bottles of wine and stickers from him, while police team also arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 1.3 kilogram hashish, and 20 grams of cocaine from them.
Ramna police arrested an accused Naveed and recovered 140 grams of hashish from him. Noon police arrested accused Shahzad and recovered 10 bottles of wine from his possession.
Shams Colony police arrested accused Akhtar Zaman and recovered 125 grams of hashish from him. Koral police arrested accused Bilal Gul and Qasim, and recovered two pistols along with ammunition from their possession.
Lohi Bher police arrested three bike lifters identified as Gul Zaib, Danyal, and Faisal Mehmood, and recovered two stolen bikes from their possession. Separate cases were also registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is under way.
During special crackdown against absconders, Islamabad police nabbed six proclaimed offenders and court absconders from various area of the city.
On Monday, the ICT police arrested 26 outlaws including 11 proclaimed offenders from various areas of the city and recovered stolen gold ornaments, cache of narcotics, wine, valuables, and weapons from their possession.
Bhara Khau police arrested two bootleggers identified as Fazal Mehmood and Waqas Masih and recovered 250 litres of alcohol from their possession, while Golra police team arrested a house maid, Sobia and recovered stolen gold ornaments from her possession.
